Handbook #3 expands further on mold-making techniques showing some special methods for creating molds and composite copies of existing parts, fabricating molds from clay models, and making advanced mold systems using computer modeling software and CNC equipment. Several alternative methods of fabricating one-off parts are presented in this book, including molding over frameworks and human forms, as well as using stock composites to build simple structures. Composite repairs are also covered in this book, along with a primer on computer-aided analysis of composites structures and how professional fabricators build composites.

Functional How to Books. Worth the money if you NEED to know this information. Quite expensive for general bedtime reading though. There are no villains, hero's, or scary monsters in the book save for the fact that your blood pressure will rise a bit when slathering on catalyzed fiberglass resin knowing that you have a REAL deadline before the stuff starts to seize up.Product details

Composite Materials Fabrication Handbook #3 Composite Garage eBook John Wanberg Reviews
This book is a great read for the garage tinkerer. I would have preferred more information and less pictures, but still, it teaches well.
I learned a lot from this series. Our senior design team referred to this material when we made the wing for Electric FSAE car.
I bought the series and have really enjoyed working with it. I have read all on this subject and have found this series to cover everything from understanding the different materials used, to making moulds and producing the end result with success. I found that it definitely widened my understanding and knowledge of composite, resulting in a high success in the end product. Right material for the right result..
Have the full series. In this book john goes into some of the techniques not found on youtube. He covers things like making a trunk lid out of carbon (the kind of projects that spring to mind when you think about carbon fiber) he also covers mold repair and CAD design of composite parts. If you are a familiar with the basics, then this will be a good starring point to move to advanced status.
Excellent book. Well written. Every useful. I would recommend this book to everyone.
Excellent buying experience. It is the second copy I've bought, the first in soft bound that I loaned to a college solar vehicle team, the second a version.
These books start out fairly basic and build from there. There are a lot of pictures and the text is very descriptive. I have done some of the basic methods, and feel more confident that I could do the more advanced techniques having read these books. That being said, all tree books come up to a fairly hefty price tag, which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.
